MARTINEZ August Rudy
“RUDY” of Waterford, passed away suddenly, October 10, 2017 at 90 years of age. Loving husband of Ruth for 65 years; beloved father of Stephen (Donna) Martinez, James (Tammy) Martinez, the late Jefferson Martinez, and Jane (David) Martinez Wright; grandfather of 8; great great grandfather of 1; brother of Carmen (Salvador) Guizar, Louise (Robert) Lenz, Vera (Charlie Gamble) Sausser, and the late Trinidad (Carmen) Martinez. Rudy was a veteran of the US Marine Corp, WWII. He retired from the Pontiac Police Department (the “Bear”) in 1981 and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, but most important to Rudy was his devotion to his loving family.
A private memorial mass will be held
Sorry to read of Rudy's passing. I remember him as a fun guy when my mom worked as secretary for the Detective Bureau at the Pontiac Police. I believe she started there in 1955. Your family will have stories to share for a lifetime.
Kay Campbell Brock, daughter of Helen Campbell.
Prayers and Love
Saddened to hear this
Love You Uncle Rudy
I have a lot great memories with you Bear and your family. Up North at the trailer, riding motorcycles with Jeffer, Jane, Pops, Marv T.,Christine, Clyde, on many occasions. My first nacho at the casa and many, many excellent conversations while you were visiting my father. Your laugh was contagious and your company was always something I looked forward to RIP my friend. Love always Buckshot.
Life is so precious and so unpredictable. Just saw him at Fino's with daughter Jane. He was smiling and immediately reached out to me like he did when I was a rookie. Such a respectful and friendly man.
Jane , you were always special to me, and Erin and I wish you peace and comfort with your memories. Always treated with respect by your father. One of the great guys. Many blessings to your family.
Jim, my sincere condolences upon
the passing of your father. Rudy was
one of the best, a bad word was
never heard about him. I would
run into him with you from time
to time and he always had a smile
on his face. I know he will be missed
by many. RIP Rudy.
My sincere condolences to all of Rudy's family. Rudy was certainly a PPD family member, father and mentor to many of us whom where once the children of the PPD. I remember Rudy went flying with me up to West Branch to pick up two PPD members after a hunting trip. I have to laugh as Rudy was not sure he wanted to get into a plane with me. He was a great guy and fun to be around. Rest in peace Bear.
Jim, so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. My prayers for God's comfort at this time.
Ruth just heard about Rudy this morning. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.
To Jim and your whole family. I am so very sorry to hear of this loss. Mr. Martinez was always wonderful to me from the time I joined the PPD and everytime we ran into each other after his retirement. Rudy Martinez will surely be missed by many.
